Hand-building is as simple as using your hands to form an object out of clay. Once you’ve mastered pinching, coiling, and slab building, you can make just about anything out of clay. In this beginner-friendly pottery course, students will learn hand-building, surface design, and glazing techniques to make functional and sculptural pieces. This is also suitable for intermediate students who want to work independently, but need some instruction and constructive feedback.
Week 1-6 is construction, no class week 7 while pieces are bisque fired, week 8 is glaze week, and week 9 is pick-up and critique party. Includes 25 lbs of clay, the firing of your work, and access to 6 hrs of open studio time per week! Additional clay may be purchased for $55 per 25lb bag, which includes bisque, fire, and glaze.
Small class enrollment is limited to 8 students, so students can get plenty of instructor assistance.
