July – Fantasy Art! Students will learn about and complete fun projects inspired by fantasy artists such as Peter Sis, Yoshitaka Amano,  Moebius, and Shaun Tan. In this session, students will be creating fantasy worlds and creatures using watercolor, sketching, collage, and sculpture.  One day we will visit ArtWorks Gallery to meet a local, world-renowned fantasy artist and get a first-hand tour of his exhibition, Making Magic, The Art of Gary Lippincott.
Ages 12 to 15 yrs,  Friday mornings, 10 am – 1 pm, July 8th – 29th
Ages 8 to 11 yrs, Wednesday mornings, 10 am – 1 pm, July 10th – 31st.

August – Color & Pattern! Who is Hilma of Klint, Didier William, Lee Krasner, and Yayoi Kusama? You’ll find out in this fun session as we learn about these artists and how they use color and pattern in their art. Students will visit ArtWorks Gallery to see how local artists use color and pattern in their art.  Ages 12 to 15 yrs,  Friday mornings, 10 am – 1 pm, August 7th – 28th, Ages 8 to 11 yrs, Wednesday mornings, 10 am – 1 pm, August 5th – 26th.

The Masters in the Morning program is both educational and FUN! Each week we start with a presentation of the artist of the week,  followed by an art project inspired by this artist or technique. We use a variety of media from printmaking, painting, drawing, collage, sculpting, and fiber. In the Masters in the Morning program, students will develop an artful eye and learn new skills and vocabulary that will help them better express themselves. Instructors encourage creativity, perseverance, and confidence. We value the process of making art rather than focusing on the end product, however, our students are producing some pretty amazing pieces of art! We use only quality materials, and the classes are taught by professional artists and experienced teachers!
