Photography & Video Arts

Ages: 8 to 14 yrs
Thursdays, 4 to 5:30 pm
September 23rd to October 28th
6-week course | $115 (includes a $25 materials fee)

 Participants in this program will learn techniques to take better photographs with a camera and/or smartphone. Students can bring their own device or camera or the teacher has several that can be borrowed.  Half of each class will be spent shooting outside and occasionally, with a live model. Students will also write, direct and produce their own videos. Photos will be printed and matted. The last class will be an Artshow for family & friends. 

6-week course:

1. TEXTURE– 

Students will shoot photos that feature interesting patterns and textures. 

2. LIGHT & DARK– 

Students will shoot photos that feature both light and dark in the same photograph. 

3. ABOVE & BELOW– 

Students will shoot photos from unnatural heights, such as laying on the ground or climbing up on a table. 

4. FACES & GROUPS– 

Students will work in pairs and shoot photos that feature their partner as well as selfies. 

5. LIGHTING & COSTUME–

Students will shoot photos of a live model in various poses, costumes, wigs & lighting. 

6. QUESTIONS & SHOW–

Students will have their final critique and have time to ask specific questions about photography as a whole. The last 25 minutes will be devoted to an Art Exhibit of students’ work for their invited guests. Refreshments will be served. 

Faith Ward has a B. A. in English & Theater from Eastern CT State University. Through her business Artshealinghearts, Faith facilitates creative workshops, and makes her living, as an independent Artist and Musician. She currently teaches Theater, Photography, Art & Moviemaking for the Monson School system in Massachusetts. Faith absolutely loves all forms of Art & teaches a variety of populations from K-12, to Adults and Special needs. Faith says, the only requirement to take her class, is that you come with an open heart & the desire to make really cool Art!!!
